This is the poem I wrote to a friend who was very close to me.....I wrote this when he was leaving my college (in India) to go to a different one...it is a sorta sad one but it is very meaningful to me....
Not more than 3-4 weeks have been through,
Since, I met a special friend. Its true
That it is easy to make friends,
But these people are those who change with trends.
However, in contrast, you are very unique,
And this is not for your mentality or physique.
You are different because you have touched my heart,
And, now I will miss you, even if you go a million miles apart.
All the laughters we had and the joys you gave,
Are all part of the memories that I am trying to collect and save.
The experiences you gave, some cowardly some brave,
All add up to the satisfaction of my friendship crave.
One day I see you sitting in a cafe bar,
As a celebrity, as a star.
Because you look very 'fundoo', just like 'Sallu' yaar!
So, better keep in contact, 'warna padenge joote chaar!'
The last phrase has got some indian (hindi) terms so i am telling them here for those who didn't understand their meaning...
'fundoo' means cool
'Sallu' is the short for Salman Khan, a very handsome Indian celebrity (he has been voted in the top ten most smart looking faces on earth in the past!!). This friend of mine looked extremely similar to Salman Khan so, we teased him often with his name!
'yaar' means friend
'warna padenge joote chaar' means if (warna) you don't keep in contact then, we will hit (padenge) you with our shoes (joote) 4 times (chaar)
